Are You Living Your D.H.A.R.M.A. ?

Hello Superstar!

Dharma is a Sanskrit word that means “purpose in life” and everyone is given this as a gift for being on the planet. It’s the ultimate reason why we are here.

In order to be living our Dharma we must first discover our true self and our hearts desires. What do we truly want to be do and have in our lives? What are we passionate about?

The next step is to discover our unique talent, the one thing that we can do in the way that no-one else can.

Then we set the intention to serve humanity with our gifts and talents. Get it out into the world as a true expression of who we are – being our true selves. We can have that feeling of fulfilment and satisfaction.

Then we are living our Dharma!

“There is a place that you are to fill that no one else can fill – something you are to do that no-one else can do” – Plato

This is why you find so many wealthy people keep on working even when they don’t really need to make more money. It’s because they are driven by their creativity, solving problems or just by helping people. They have to do that thing that burns within or their fire will go out and they fade away!

It doesn’t always have to be the thing that makes us money. It could be that you make money another way and use it to support your purpose. However, it’s even better when your Dharma is something that you can be paid for.

Rich Litvin quotes “Don’t be the best… Be the only one!”

Sometimes it takes a long time for us to realise what that purpose is. For some people they know exactly the one thing they are here for, like my youngest son Desi and his music.  From when he was a child he knew exactly what he wanted to do and always had a 5 year plan since the age of 5! For others like myself, even though I was practicing my Dharma and it was easy to do, I didn’t realise that it had real value until later in my life.

In every case it is a unique talent that you possess that when combined with the intention of service to others, doing something aligned with your heart’s passion, that’s when you truly get to be in the flow of fulfilment, satisfaction, love and happiness.

So it appears that living in your Dharma is really being selfish; that by giving you receive. Funny that!

So how do you know that you are living in your Dharma? I’ve devised a nifty acronym to help you work it out.

How to check in with your D.H.A.R.M.A.

D – Direction – Are you clear about the direction you are taking your life and business? Do you know, in your heart, what you love to do and who you love to do it for? Can you help them solve their problems or touch their souls with what you love to do?

H – Harmony – Is what you are doing in harmony with your Values? Your Values are the attributes that are important to you in life. Are you at peace with the decisions that you are making, how you live your life and run your business? How do you interact with the people around you and those you serve?

A – Accountability – Is the magic ingredient in goal achievement. Are you holding yourself accountable to your audience, team, staff, family; the people you are here to serve. Do you show up for them and get things done? Do you have a mentor or coach who can hold you accountable so that you do what you say you will do?

R – Responsibility – Are you “able to respond” to the consequences of your actions, decisions, changes in the marketplace, the economy, the government, your relationships, etc. Spending time and energy on blaming and worrying about things that can’t be changed is going against the flow of life.

M – Motivation – Is your “motive activation”. It’s that thing that moves you into action. It’s your deepest desire – you biggest reason – your Big WHY? What’s that thing that sets a fire in your belly and keeps you up at night and gets up before dawn? It’s something you want to achieve so badly that you will do anything to make it happen. No one can motivate another. It has to come from within.

A – Action – You will know that you are living your Dharma when you are taking action on every thought you think and everything you do centred around your purpose. Your thoughts create feelings, your feelings create actions, your actions create results!

If you are not having your desired results in your career, business or life right now it could be that you are not living your Dharma. You are not in alignment with your passion, your talent, your intention and who you serve.

My Dharma is to help you live your Dharma. To help you get clear on your purpose and direction. To help you clear any blocks you may have to money, self expression, creativity and self love. So that you can earn a sustainable living and have a fabulous lifestyle while you make the world a better place by doing what you love.
